Welcome
Bernie is a full-time musician, writer and filmmaker. His first loves are novels and screenplays, but he does craft a column (MIND MATTERS) for Modern Drummer magazine (the #1 best-selling drum magazine in the world) as well as writing product reviews, artist interviews, and freelance articles on a variety of subjects related to drums, drummers, and percussion. Schallehn also freelances with other magazines, primarily those in the drum and percussion field. When he's able to secure financing, Bernie will write, produce, and direct a short film. When not writing or making a movie, he's the world percussionist in an acoustic twosome--The Alyssa Yeager Duo. (http://www.ayduopresskit.com) and has a start-up project where he's playing drum kit with a "cover band with a concept." In this case, he and his band mates are covering the 70s and early 80s Southern California music of Warren Zevon, Linda Ronstadt & Jackson Browne, as well as James Taylor, Carly Simon and others. Bernie also freelances in the recording studio, plays percussion and drum set fill-in gigs and, occasionally, functions as a Foley artist.
